And one rack to hold them all

Consisting of racks in all models, shapes and sizes, the modern computer centre often presents a “patchwork” look. A unique universal enterprise rack consolidates industry-standard rackmount servers, storage and networking platforms – and provides solutions to pressing cooling, cable management and space issues.
And one rack to hold them all

The HP 10000 G2 Series Rack is a universal rack for all HP rackmount products, as well as standard third-party hardware. Available in 36U and 42U models, the rack features a multi-angle door design with fully perforated front and rear doors.

The design means doors are 65% open for optimum front-to-back flow. This delivers efficient, convection cooling and ventilation for densely packed hardware. Robust locks for the front and rear doors, as well as the side panels, provide a high level of security.

The frame is constructed with a patented process unique within the industry. With this process, instead of steel being cut thicker for greater strength, it is actually folded seven times. This significantly increases overall bearing capacity, allowing the rack to hold a net weight of 908 kg of static and dynamic loading.

In addition to the ventilation and strength, another feature is the tool-less three-section side panels and split rear doors (which minimise rear-aisle space interference). These provide easy access for hardware servicing and maintenance.

Reducing cable complexity

With increasing hardware-density come increased cable management issues. The HP 10000 G2 Series provides an array of well-considered cable management features, such as cable egresses in the rack top, removable access panels on the rear door and cable management straps.

Cables can run through the egresses, route through the full row of racks using cable tray options or lay along the transfer bridge to rack top cable management trays. In addition, there are enhanced cable management options available, such as Velcro strips, hook and loop strips and Fibre Channel routing kits.

The one-metre form factor maximises space within the rack, and can accommodate the increasing depth of next-generation servers and storage products. The rack is expandable with a 155 mm optional extension kit to provide even more room for optimal cable management.

A range of power and KVM (keyboard, video, mouse), uninterrupted power supply, and power options are available to meet specific requirements, and all can be factory integrated by HP for easy deployment, along with all required servers and storage. The industrial, graphite metallic design ensures a uniformity of rack appearance that adds an added tone of professional appearance to any data centre.
