The HP TRIM User Forum (TUF) took place on August 5th through August 7th at the Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles. Set down a tree-lined drive, this mansion style boutique hotel provided a comfortable setting for delegates to network, discuss ideas and exchange opinions. From reviewing the feedback, it appears that most people did just that and went home with a lot of new contacts.
With an action packed agenda including presentations from both notable industry experts and Information Management Users, the conference was kicked-off on a high-note by Atle Skjekkeland of AIIM who provided a current state of the Enterprise Content Management industry.
The momentum of the conference continued to build with Jonathan Martin, HP, providing an informative insight into the Changing Economics of Information Management followed by Charley Barth with the Department of the Navy who gave us an insight on how to gain user adoption across the enterprise.
Following the kick-off of the conference, attendees spent a few minutes with the vendors and then broke off into the track sessions where they were treated to a number of excellent presentations including:

Gathering back after the morning breakout sessions, a panel of HP experts including Peggy Milovina-Meyer (HP’s Global Records Manager) discussed how HP is implementing TRIM internally. Attendees then enjoyed a fabulous lunch (actually excellent for a hotel meal) and returned for afternoon sessions including:

Day 1 wrapped up with a case study by Charlie Arp, Battelle on Effortless Knowledge and Records Management followed by Kapish’s Erik Willsey showing off their new TRIM explorer and how it was used at the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD).
After an evening of drinks, dinner and a musical performance by Drew Gibson , Kris Brown, HP, woke us up and got things going on Day 2 showing us the future of HP TRIM in the product roadmap session. Based on your feedback, the roadmap session, along with the demo session at the end of the day were the highlights of the conference. Kevin Blackley, Ezescan, followed up with an interesting look at capturing information into TRIM using a real-life example from Ordnance Survey.
The final breakout sessions of the conference stimulated some very interesting conversations. These included:

Even though we had a full agenda and a tight timeline, the conference was a success. Between the seasoned TUF veterans and the first timers, best practices were shared and everyone walked away with a better understanding of how different organizations are tackling the daunting task of records management.
From the HP Marketing Team, we would like to thank the attendees, speakers, sponsors and staff for making the 2009 HP TRIM User Forum one of the best to date.
