Iain Liddell took charge of Brunel University's published information in 1993, and immediately saw the need to address the massive volume of disparate word-processing documents. In 2003, he worked with the university's Records Manager on a nationally-funded review of the management of electronic information (including Web pages) relating to student progression. By this stage he was already codifying Brunel's policies and procedures for information management.
