As a worldwide leader in imaging and printing, HP is committed to bringing to market the best supplies technologies, greater choice and flexibility for our customers.

HP 21XL Black and 22XL Tri-colour Inkjet Print Cartridges have just been launched to provide customers better choice for HP Deskjet F2280 All-in-One and the HP Deskjet D1560 printers with the option of high-volume printing with fewer cartridge changes.

This choice and value will also be available to existing customers with existing printers that use HP 21 and 22 Inkjet Print Cartridges. This enables customers who are printing more frequently, but not yet ready to upgrade their current printer, to make significant savings on both time and money by using the new XL ink cartridges.

Note:
Ink monitoring features on the existing printers were not designed for use with these high-capacity ink cartridges and as such, will give misleading information about the cartridge being empty but the printer will continue to print when ink is available.

On the next tab "Trigger messaging" you will see examples on the notifications you get when using the new high-capacity HP 21XL and 22XL Inkjet Print cartridges.

Q&A's

Q1: When should I use the HP 21XL and 22XL Inkjet Print Cartridges?

A: The HP 21XL and 22XL Inkjet Print Cartridges are ideal for home printing customers and small offices who print documents, web pages and photos at high volumes and on a frequent basis.

Q2: What are the benefits and savings of using these new XL cartridges?

A: Customers who use HP 21XL and 22XL Inkjet Print Cartridges will receive 2.5 times more black and colour printed pages compared with the standard HP 21 Black and HP 22 Tri-colour Inkjet Print Cartridges. In addition, customers will benefit from a 40 % savings by using HP 21 XL Black and 41 % using the HP 22 XL Tri-colour Cartridge, as compared to the standard cartridges.

Q3: What are page yields for the new high capacity cartridges?

A: The page yields of the new HP 21XL and HP 22XL Inkjet Print Cartridges as compared to the standard HP 21 and 22 Inkjet Print Cartridges are as follows:
Cartridge MRSP/Estimated Street Price(1) Page Yield(2)
HP 21XL €20.99/$31,49 475 pages
HP 22XL €23.99/$35,99 415 pages
HP 21 (Standard) €14.99/$22,49 190 pages
HP 22 (Standard) €16.99/$25,49 165 pages(3)

Q4: Will these new XL cartridges be available for those who have existing printers that have already been introduced and use HP 21 and 22 cartridges?

A: The HP 21XL Black and 22XL Tri-colour Inkjet Print cartridges are new introductions to support the HP Deskjet F2280 All-in-One and the HP Deskjet D1560 printers. The 21XL and 22XL cartridges will also be available to existing customers with printers that use currently the HP 21 and HP 22 Inkjet Print Cartridges.

Q5: Will the owners of previously-introduced printers experience any difference in functionality when using the XL cartridges?

A: HP 21XL and 22XL Inkjet Print Cartridges can be used with printers that use HP 21 and 22 Inkjet Print Cartridges, and were introduced before 2008. However, ink monitoring features on these existing printers were not designed for use with these high-capacity ink cartridges.

While the HP 21XL and 22XL Inkjet Print Cartridges were designed to support the new HP Deskjet F2280 All-in-One and the HP Deskjet D1560 printers, HP understands that our existing customer base may have a need for higher volume printing but may not be ready to upgrade their printer.

Q6: Will it be noted on the ink cartridge packaging that existing printers using HP 21 and 22 Inkjet Print Cartridges are compatible with these new XL cartridges?

A: Yes. A list of compatible printers introduced before 2008 will be listed on the cartridge packaging and can be found here:
HP Deskjet Printers 3920, 3940, D1360, D1460, D1470, D1560, D2330, D2360, D2430, D2460, F370, F375, F380, F2180, F2187, F2224, F2280, F4140, F4172, F4180, F4190

Q7: If ink monitoring features on previously-introduced printers were not designed for use with these high-capacity ink cartridges, will I be able to use all the ink in the cartridge? Will the cartridge run out abruptly?

A: Customers using HP 21XL and 22XL Inkjet Print Cartridges with printers that were introduced before 2008 can continue to print after receiving the ink alerts. The ink alert will appear 3 times and needs to be cancelled by the customer after 30 % of pages have been printed. As long as ink is still in the cartridge, the printer will continue to print. When the cartridge appears to be empty and the print quality degrades to a point they deem unacceptable they should replace the cartridge.

Q8: How will HP ensure that the customer’s queries can be satisfactorily answered?

HP will ensure that the customer support centre are trained and channel partners are informed in all specific elements and are familiar with all aspects of the issue.
