Alan Banks is the Director of Hewlett-Packard’s (HP) UK Software business which includes Business
Technology Optimisation (BTO), Information Management (IM), Neoview and OpenCall. In this role, Alan
Banks co-ordinates and oversees distribution, sales, channel programmes and marketing in the UK. Alan’s
focus will be to maintain growth within the software business by identifying new revenue streams in the UK software
market.
Prior to taking on this current role, Alan worked for SAP as Vice President in EMEA for Large Enterprise - managing
over 50% of SAP’s business, outside Germany. Before this, Alan spent a number of years in the security,
governance and optimisation industry with Computer Associates (CA), where his role as Senior Vice President and
General Manager for Northern Europe gave him the opportunity to turn round a failing business from declining
revenue to one of their highest growth teams worldwide. His innovative approach covered new business planning
processes, a new EMEA operational model, a different go-to-market strategy and the verticalisation of sales
functions.
Alan has also held a number of key roles within the IT industry at BEA Systems (enterprise infrastructure software),
ATG (e-commerce), Documentum and Kinesis (both document management software/consulting).
Alan holds a BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from John Moore’s University and is married with two boys.
